Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra creates history, and become first Indian Athlete who set the new World Record in Javelin. Neeraj Chopra won a Gold Medal at the U-20 World Championship in Bydgoszcz, Poland on Saturday evening.

Neeraj creates a world record by throwing the javelin distance of 86.48 m and broke the old record set by Latvian Zigismunds Sirmais which was 84.69 m

Neearj said, “It is an incredible feeling. I was feeling strong and confident before this throw.”

“When the spear left my hand on that second throw, I had a feeling that this was a special throw,” said by Neeraj Chopra. “I don’t think I expected it to go over 86 meters but since the last couple of months, I have worked hard on my fitness, my technique and it all paid off today.”

He had won the gold medal at the South Asian Games in Guwahati earlier this year with his personal best 82.23 m, making him the world’s best junior thrower this season.

Vijay Goel, minister of State for youth Affairs and Sports, has announced award of Rs. 1o Lakh.
